WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this afternoon.
Cowan joins Sheffield United after leaving the club’s Barclays Women’s Championship rivals London City Lionesses earlier this summer. The 28-year-old has enjoyed two spells with The Pride. In her latest short spell with London City Lionesses, Cowan made seven appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she scored one goal.
The full-back has also played for Millwall Lionesses and Crystal Palace in her senior career to date. She will be hoping to use her experience to help a young Sheffield United side to perform this season.
After joining Sheffield United, Cowan said “I’m really happy to get this over the line. It’s a massive club, it’s got a great history and I’m excited to come up here.
“I was looking for a clean slate. My whole career has pretty much been in London, so the opportunity to move away and start afresh really appealed to me.”
Cowan becomes Sheffield United head coach Ash Thompson’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window. Thompson is expected to boost his squad further before the new season kicks-off next month.
