The idea that Joao Felix could move to AC Milan before tonight’s transfer deadline continues to gather momentum, with various sources in Italy now making large claims about how far along that deal is.
Antonio Vitiello is a writer focused on the Rossoneri, and he says that we’ve heard the “hot hours” layer of the deal, where Milan are waiting for an opening from Chelsea to capitalise on.
The numbers involved make it hard for us to see how a deal goes down. The fact that Carney Chukwuemeka has gone to Dortmund on loan shuts down another foreign loan slot, and we really can’t see Milan paying us for Felix. We bought him for £45m in the summer, and there’s no way they’d match that now.
According to some reports, we’d actually want more than what we paid, which is even harder to get your head around given he’s not played a huge amount this season.
New coach Sergio Conceicao wants to add something different to his attack, and Felix definitely provides that. The fact that they’re both Portuguese probably helps, although they couldn’t really be more diametrically opposed as characters.

One thing that certainly does convince us that a deal could happen is the claim on Sky Sports today that Felix was at the Milan derby last night. There’s no way that would have happened if a deal wasn’t seen as likely, let alone possible.
Chelsea play West Ham tonight, so there’s no way the attacking midfielder would have been given permission to travel to Italy last night and presumably miss the squad for the game if he wasn’t almost sure to be moving.
As always, tonight’s team sheet will be very interesting.
