The game was running away from Celtic in the second-half a bit and Brendan Rodgers decided to freshen things up by bringing on Yang, Luke McCowan and Jota.

Clever changes made by Brendan Rodgers

All three men definitely brought something new to the table, but Yang was simply superb and looks more and more like a player who could make the grade at Celtic Park. Yang climbed off the substitutes bench once again on Saturday to score a brace against St Mirren, whilst he also set-up red-hot Daizen Maeda for his 26th goal of the season, in what was the pick of the bunch for sure.

Post-match, James McFadden raved about Yang and admitted it is becoming more of a regular thing now for him to be coming on and contributing to the cause in matches for the club. Speaking to Sky Sports Scotland, he said of the Korean’s impact: “Yeah, he did. And it’s becoming a regular occurrence for Yang.  It’s a wonderful cross – pickout – from Hatate. Stephen (Robinson) will obviously be disappointed because of the amount of space he’s in, but you still need to have the vision. You still need to be able to execute the cross.

‘A great goal from Celtic’s point of view’

“And even for Yang coming in, he’s having to generate the power. Normally you would say ‘you know as the balls coming in, go back across goal’. And that generates the power for you. But because he goes to the near post, he needs to get so much on it. And it’s a really good header. A great goal from Celtic’s point of view. Again, I think Stephen Robinson will be disappointed the amount of space he’s in.”

Yang is in a rich vein of form

Yang is certainly in a rich vein of form at the minute and if he keeps it up, he could be knocking on the door for a starting place in the side once again.

For sure he faded a little bit earlier in the campaign, but he’s showing far more often now what he’s capable of and if given the opportunity, he is now able to grab these chances with both hands, which will of course please his manager.
