FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit has provided his verdict on Liverpool links to Ryan One.
This article is part of Football League World’s 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Sheffield United young striker prospect Ryan Oné is reportedly a target of Premier League giants Liverpool.
Alan Nixon has revealed the latest via his Patreon, where he claims that the Reds are keeping tabs on the Sheffield United youngster after he worked his way into the first-team picture at Bramall Lane earlier on in the season.
Nixon claims that Oné is the type of physical number nine that Liverpool do not currently possess within their developmental system and youth team, so they are keen to make a move for the Scotsman and build him up into a potential star of the future.
However, it is also reported that the Blades would likely ask for a big fee if Liverpool do come calling, given that they consider the forward to be one of their hottest young prospects with the most potential.
FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy, from the Blades Ramble YouTube channel, was asked for his thoughts on the situation, especially after selling a young striker for big-money in the summer after Will Osula left for Newcastle United.
Jimmy told Football League World: "Ryan Oné is a real, real good prospect. He has all the raw tools to go on and be a real player within the game.
"I really like him, but he is very raw. I don't think he's by any means the finished article.
"But there is certainly potential to be a Premier League player there, absolutely.
"I can see him developing into a Premier League striker. Whether Liverpool are willing to pay that we would probably want is another question.
"We saw Will Osula sold to Newcastle for £10 million rising to £15 million; and it was a brilliant deal for Sheffield United.
"I love Osula. I think he is going to be a brilliant player as well, but I would say Oné has the potential to be better than Osula, just because of the physical tools that he possesses.
"So, if we got an offer like that, then I'd snap your hand off.
"I don't think Liverpool are going to pay that sort of money right now, but if they did, then I believe we'd welcome it.
"Although I also wouldn't be unhappy if he stayed and maybe went out on loan for some experience.
"He's just signed a new five-year contract at Sheffield United, so we hold the cards here.
"Let's see, because if he stays and develops, then his value will increase.
"If Liverpool come in with silly money, then let's talk."
Oné scored on his debut for both Sheffield United's under-18's and under-21's sides, and as a result made his Premier League debut by coming off the bench against Arsenal.
This season, the teenager has been involved with the first-team with far greater frequency, and has made a number of appearances off the bench in the Championship.
His second tier debut saw him come on against Bristol City and score an equaliser after being on the pitch for 15 minutes, which was ultimately followed by a winner scored by Harrison Burrows.
The Scotsman is a highly promising forward who has all the qualities of an up-and-coming target man, and is likely to get many more opportunities for the Blades this season, but Liverpool's interest could complicate things if a suitable offer comes in and forces Chris Wilder's side into selling.
