Some Rangers Fans Slam Award for Cyriel Dessers | OneFootball

Ibrox Noise was amused when Cyriel Dessers won Top Scorer award by the SPFL, but some Rangers fans still found grounds to criticise him.

The Nigerian topped the charts with 18 goals, perhaps not a blistering number, but certainly enough that it was at the summit of the entire league. Yet some Rangers fans, who have, to be fair, understandably never really taken to him, still found grounds to find things that they didn’t like about him, reasons to criticise him.

We were amused on the site to see that Antonio Colak’s name was mentioned in the ammo against him. A mention about how he had scored 14 in less appearances. Frankly, that doesn’t matter. The fact is that Dessers is top scorer. What happened before is borderline irrelevant. Ibrox noise has also been quite critical at times of Dessers. We have always backed him, historically. We know he’s not polished, we know he’s not the most composed, and we know he’s not the most clinical striker of all time. But the fact is he’s a hard worker, he never stops grafting, and he’s scoring. But that’s still not enough for quite a lot of fans who would probably still want Alfredo Morelos to come back.

The fact is, beggars can’t be choosers, and Rangers are hardly embarrassed by the riches up front. Even if Hamza Igamane is a clinical striker, he is missing a lot in his game, and it’s Desslers who’s getting the goals. There’s not really anybody else. Obviously, we hope there will be something new coming in this summer with a potential takeover, but this is all up in the air. For now, Dessers and Igamane is what we have, and if Dessers is delivering, and he’s getting awards, it is just such a shame that even when this is pointed out to his critics, they still find something to moan about.
