Despite being 36 years of age, the FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is having one of the most productive seasons of his career. He has already scored 26 goals in 27 appearances this season, despite slowing down a bit in the last few weeks of 2024.

However, the Catalan club understands that the striker will not be able to continue performing at such a high level for many more years, and thus are looking for a long-term replacement who can take the team’s goalscoring mantle on his shoulders going forward.

For this purpose, Spanish news outlet Fichajes reports that there are two notable names that Barcelona have in their sights.

One of these players is the Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who has been performing at quite an impressive level under Eddie Howe. This season, he has 15 goals and 4 assists to his name in 22 games and has emerged as one of the more prolific strikers in the Premier League.

He particularly stands out with his ability to remain dangerous, both with and without the ball, while his tactical versatility also makes him an ideal candidate for Barcelona to replace Lewandowski in the short and long terms. However, Newcastle United currently value him at €150 million.

Another option that the Catalans have on their list is the RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who has already established himself as one the most promising strikers in the Bundesliga at only 21 years of age.

This season, he has scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists in 24 games, and in addition to these figures, his ability to move between the lines and his explosive speed have also caught the attention of Barcelona.

These two players have starkly different profiles, but both would be highly exciting options to replace Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona. However, signing either of them will be challenging, as neither Newcastle nor Leipzig is willing to part with their prized assets for a low price.
