Araya Dennis will join Southampton FC from Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal until the end of the season. The 18-year-old has already committed her future to Tottenham, with a deal lasting until 2026. Her experience in the Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship at such a young age are signs of the promising career ahead of her.
However, her experience is not only in club football, but also on the international stage. Dennis has already made her debut for the young England Lionesses in both the U15 and U17 age groups. The defender is proving to be a force to be reckoned with on the pitch and determined to make a name for herself for both club and country.
For the second half of last season, Dennis spent some time with Crystal Palace. During this time, she made 20 appearances for the Eagles and netted herself two goals. The team gained promotion from the Championship, and the youngster player a huge role in this.
Her dominance across the backline, ability to press and clear the ball, and her passing accuracy shows her prowess on the pitch. There was nothing but praise for Dennis during her time with the Eagles. She is the perfect team player — selfless on the ball and always looking for a good opportunity to set up an attacking piece for her teammates.
Being on loan allowed her to gain vital minutes and learn constantly each day, bringing her new experiences back to North London. Another loan move, this time to Southampton, will be another opportunity for her to shine. Dennis is a rising baller with a bright future ahead of her.
Dennis has made 10 appearances for both the U15 and U17 Lionesses and is certainly set for more minutes on the pitch in an England shirt.
Dennis was selected for her biggest major tournament on the international stage in May 2024. She spent her summer representing England at the UEFA Women’s U19 European Championships. Another learning process and a great achievement to her name at such a young age.
There will be more opportunities coming the way of the young Lioness. If she continues to stand out on the pitch and capture the eye of big names, there is definitely a promising career for her on the global stage.
