It's official, Southampton will face Burnley in the 4th round of the FA Cup on 8th February at St. Mary's.

It has been quite a challenging season for Southampton so far. Already out of the EFL Cup, while on the verge of relegation in the Premier League, there have been more problems for them than positives.

But, here's an interesting stat that the Saints can surely be happy about.

Outside the Premier League, Southampton has won all the games except one, against Liverpool. That includes some considerable wins, against Everton, Stoke City, and the recent FA Cup win over Swansea.

Further, the Saints have still a chance to get their hands on silverware this season. After an impressive 3-0 win against Swansea, Southampton has reached the 4th round of the FA Cup with their title hopes alive.

As per Southampton's official website, the Saints have been drawn with Burnley for the 4th round FA Cup fixture on 8th February. Further, the tie is scheduled at St. Mary's, with the Saints continuing their FA Cup run at home.

Interestingly, in recent years, Southampton has had an upper hand over Burnley at home. Having won a fixture 3-2, while drawing another 2-2, they have not lost at home against the Clarets since February 2020.

But, while the home advantage is clearly a boon for Southampton, it might not be as beneficial this time.

Till the much-awaited FA Cup fixture, Southampton would be against a string of challenging opponents, which might deteriorate their form.

If it wasn't enough, boss Ivan Juric might even have to line up the Saints without Tyler Dibling. After being subbed off against Manchester United, the extent of the prodigy's ankle injury still remains unknown.

Clearly, the upcoming weeks would have a huge say as to who will leverage an advantage in the fixture. For now, let's just hope Southampton can back their recent FA Cup performance against Burnley.
