Southampton match Premier League record for most losses

Everton said goodbye to Goodison Park in style, with Iliman Ndiaye bagging a first-half brace to seal a 2-0 win over Southampton in the old ground’s final match.
But while the spotlight was on the home side’s send-off, the result piled more misery onto Southampton’s already miserable season.
They came into this one with not much left to fight for, having already dodged Derby’s infamous record low of 11 Premier League points thanks to last week’s draw with Manchester City.
The defeat sees the Saints equal an unwanted Premier League record - they’ve now lost 29 league games this season, matching the all-time high for most defeats in a single campaign.
Only Ipswich Town (1994/95), Sunderland (2005/06), Derby County (2007/08), and Sheffield United (2020/21) have hit the same grim number.
To avoid ending up with the record outright, they’ll need to get at least a draw against second-placed Arsenal on the final day - not exactly the easiest task.
