Lazio have reportedly learned the asking price set by Southampton for their new transfer target Carlos Alcaraz.
The Biancocelesti are currently exploring the market in search of young profiles, and the Argentine has recently landed on Angelo Fabiani’s shortlist. Curiously, the 21-year-old was involved in a brawl with Lazio defender Alessio Romagnoli during the recent friendly encounter between the two clubs at St. Marry’s Stadium.
Both players received their marching orders for igniting a melee in the middle of the pitch, but interestingly, they could become teammates before the end of the summer if the Italian capital side succeeds in its mission to lure the youngster.
According to La Repubblica (via LazioNews24), Southampton have named their asking price for Alcaraz at €15 million. The source adds that the Saints could even be willing to part ways with the Argentine on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
The midfielder joined the Premier League side in January 2023 after rising through the ranks of Racing Club. Alcaraz spent the second half of the previous campaign at Juventus, but couldn’t carve himself a starting berth in Massimiliano Allegri’s lineup. Hence, the Bianconeri opted against keeping the player on a permanent basis.
Nevertheless, Lazio admire the player for his ability to play as a central midfielder or even in a more advanced role on the pitch. Hence, the source claims that the Biancocelesti have identified the Southampton man as their primary target to bolster the middle of the park, while Napoli’s Michael Folorunsho remains their plan B.
