Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has on Friday moved to lavish praise on a member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona.

The player in question? Pedri.

Pedri was for his part afforded his latest international call-up earlier today.

Ahead of Spain’s upcoming Nations League double-header against The Netherlands, the 22-year-old was, as expected, drafted in by La Roja’s coaching staff.

Pedri has been in nothing shy of irresistible form across the season to date, thriving in his deep-lying role in Hansi Flick’s engine room setup.

So impressive has the former Las Palmas talent looked, in fact, that of the opinion that Pedri currently represents the best in world football in his role is Luis de la Fuente.

Speaking to the media after making his squad selection official on Friday, Spain’s headmaster had the following to say on Pedri’s talents:
