Spain’s national team is undergoing a bit of a crisis right now, first with the withdrawal of Ferran Torres, then came injuries to Bryan Gil, Nico Williams and now Yeremy Pino.

As per Marca, the Villarreal winger is set to depart the Spain setup due to muscle discomfort, and will miss Spain’s matches against Denmark and Serbia during this international break.

It remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old will miss any domestic action with Villarreal, as the extent of his injuries are not yet known.

This leaves Spain in a very sticky situation, especially when it comes to wingers, and it is likely Luis de la Fuente will have to take some unorthodox measures when it comes to his squads for the next two matches.

This trend of injuries we are currently seeing is very worrying, and it seems there is a clear relationship between the rising number of matches being played and the amount of players being left on the sidelines.

It will be up to the powers that be in world football to try and find a solution which appeases both players as well as the corporate side of the sport who want to see as much football played as possible.
