Luciano Spalletti addressed several topics related to the Azzurri and Serie A in a lengthy interview with DAZN on Sunday night (via Tuttomercatoweb).

“President Gabriele Gravina convinced me in one afternoon. I’ve coached in every division, and managing the national team was the cherry on top and the apex of the pleasure of doing this job.”

The Italy skipper weighed in on the wild draw between Inter and Juventus.

“It was surely a bit crazy and a nice spectacle for the public. However, many interpretations needed to be done better.”

Spalletti is pleased with the performances of some of his men.

“Mateo Retegui and Giovanni Di Lorenzo are doing well. I always see new things on which we can work on in the future with them. The former is improving constantly and is very self-critical. It’s an important sign. The fullback went through a very difficult time and was insulted gratuitously, but he rediscovered his quality. It’s a pleasure to watch him play. I’ve always said that Moise Kean had all the qualities to become a top player but was just missing the right continuity. He can still improve and already has international experience. We have decided to rely on Lorenzo Pellegri, who handles well the request to serve both as a second striker and a midfielder.”

Spalletti dished on Federico Chiesa, who’s having a tough time at Liverpool.

“We made different choices in the past, while we lean more on talent and footballers that track back hard now. The specialists need to do it at a base level, or it becomes hard for the team. It’s always right to try new experiences abroad. Primavera players should do it too.”
