Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has provided clarity on the departure of Barcelona forward Vitor Roque to Palmeiras.
The player, who had been on loan at Betis from the Catalan team, pushed for an early termination of his spell in Spain. After multiple discussions, the club ultimately agreed to his request, allowing him to return to Brazil.
According to Fajardo, Roque was determined to leave and made his intentions clear in recent days.
The club respected his decision and chose to move forward with the players currently available in the squad. Betis remain confident that the team can meet its objectives despite this unexpected development.
“In the end, the player’s will was to leave Real Betis.
“He insisted a lot in recent days that he be given the option of being able to go to Brazil, which is where he wanted to return. And well, we trust those who are here to be able to achieve the objectives,” Fajardo said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Neither Real Betis nor Barcelona have officially disclosed the financial compensation involved in breaking the loan agreement. However, reports suggest that Betis will receive an additional 30% from the transfer of Ez Abde as part of the negotiations.
Abde, who missed the recent clash against Real Madrid due to an injury sustained ten days ago, is expected to rejoin the group in training on Monday.
Fajardo also revealed that Betis took the opportunity to ensure they gained financial benefit from the situation. The club engaged in a separate negotiation to make the best out of Roque’s departure, securing favourable terms.
“Yes, there has been a parallel negotiation, where Betis has tried to monetize the operation and get a good result from all this. An operation that has been advantageous for us,” he added.
Roque’s departure marks the end of his short-lived stint at Betis, and the club will now focus on moving forward without him.
