Go Ahead Eagles could face either Valur of Iceland or St Mirren of Scotland in the next round of Europa Conference League qualification should they overcome Brann. The Eredivisie club, who earned their European ticket via the play-offs, will host Brann in the first leg of the tie on Thursday evening before a trip to Bergen on the 1st of August. It certainly won’t be an easy tie, with the Norwegian club up and running having started their Eliteserien campaign a few months ago. They are currently sitting in second place, with just three defeats in 17 games. They have scored 25 goals and conceded 20, so Go Ahead should be confident of creating chances.
Icelandic side Valur are currently third in the Besta Deild, just five points off of Vikingur in top spot. Like Brann, they are already 14 games into their season and should prove a tough opponent for St Mirren. The Scottish side finished the 2023/2024 campaign in fifth place.
