Having struggled considerably since swapping Italy for England in 2023, Rasmus Hojlund may look to return to his familiar surroundings in hopes of reviving his stagnant form.

Saturday’s draw with Everton marked the 16th game in which Manchester United’s No.9 has failed to find the back of the net, with his last Premier League contribution coming at the start of December.

It’s not as if he hasn’t had the opportunities to add to his two-goal tally, either. Since Ruben Amorim took the reins, Hojlund has started 10 matches and featured for a total of 858 minutes.

United’s narrow defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on February 16 saw the Dane endure yet another blank outing – despite playing the entirety of the clash. His showing was deemed so poor by club chiefs that one member of the coaching staff issued a ‘particularly scathing’ review post-match, and it’s no wonder why.

As per Sofascore, Hojlund took 23 touches throughout his 90 minutes on the pitch. He recorded a 64 per cent passing accuracy and two shots on target while winning only one of his six aerial duels attempted and none of his ground duels attempted.

The forward lost possession nine times and was offside twice, making for a dismal showing all around in North London.

Hojlund tipped for Serie A return amid interest from title contenders

Should INEOS look to cut their losses by sanctioning Hojlund’s exit this summer, there is one suitor already eyeing up a deal, albeit for considerably less than the £64 million United paid for him.

TalkSPORT claims Napoli would be willing to offer the 21-year-old an ‘escape route’ back to Serie A, where he previously made 32 appearances and scored nine goals with Atalanta in 2022/2023.

Hojlund has just under four years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.
