In a season to forget, he was one of Schalke's very few bright spots: 19-year-old rightback Taylan Bulut.
Schalke are currently sitting in 13th in the 2. Bundesliga, with no chances of returning to the top division anytime soon. Bulut has played 22 games this season and contributed to 2 goals.
Stuttgart and Freiburg have both shown their ability in integrating talents into the first team: Stuttgart were able to help Finn Jeltsch, bought in January from 2. Bundesliga side Nürnberg, Anrie Chase and Nick Woltemade become important parts of the team.
Freiburg, who are known for their brilliant work with young players, have countless examples of young players becoming regular Bundesliga starters and stars. To name a few: Noah Atubolu, Max Rosenfelder, Kiliann Sildillia and Merlin Röhl.
Bulut has already told Schalke during the season that he wants to take the next step in his career for 2025/26 - his release clause of €6 million (€8 million if the interested club plays Champions League football) gives him the freedom of choice.
A decision is to be expected soon, since this release clause runs out in the beginning of June. While a move to the Bundesliga is currently more likely, Bulut has also attracted the interest of RB Salzburg.
