Gareth Taylor says City’s FA Cup clash against Leicester, and every other fixture between now and the end of the season, is a must-win game.

The Blues welcome the Foxes to the Joie Stadium on Sunday 9 February with kick-off set for 14:00.

A spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals is up for grabs, with City also reaching the League Cup final and the last eight of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Asked whether he might rotate the squad against Leicester following Thursday’s League Cup win over Arsenal, Taylor insisted that the most important objective was to progress to the next round.

“We’ll have to see. It’s a game we need to win,” he said.

“Every game between now and the end of the season is a game we have to win.

“We’re in the business end of the season now where the cup competitions are coming thick and fast, and we need to make sure we’re moving into the next round.

“We know how difficult that is but in all the competitions we’re in, we have to do that. I think we’ll have to see on that note.”

The boss also reacted to the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final draw, which took place a few hours before the press conference.

City will face Chelsea in the last eight, meaning the two sides will do battle four times just 11 days across March, with the other fixtures coming in the League Cup final and WSL.

It’s a strange prospect, but one that Taylor is excited for.

He said: “We knew what the outcome was going to be, one of three teams and two could have been English or Lyon.

“It’s a strange [situation], it will be strange to play them four times in a row but it’s an exciting challenge.

“They’re unbeaten this season and have made a really strong start, some games have been quite tight but they’ve come out on the right side with their results.

“It will be a tough challenge, for sure.”
