Leila Ouahabi, Kerolin and Khadija Shaw were on target for The Cityzens as they eased into the last-eight at The Joie Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
When speaking to the media after the match, Manchester City boss Taylor admitted that he was pleased to see the club’s name in the quarter-final draw.
“We made some changes at half-time which sometimes can change the dynamic a bit,” Taylor said.”We wanted to make three changes but one was a little bit forced with Kerstin [Casparij].
“I think all-in-all we are pleased to be in the hat for the next round and we look forward to the draw.”
It was a tough week for Manchester City forward Shaw who missed Thursday night’s Subway Women’s League Cup tie after receiving racist and misogynistic abuse. After Shaw netted on her return to the squad, head coach Taylor provided an update on the player’s position.
He said “I think Bunny’s ok. I sat down with her and had a conversation over how she is. She’s had quite a bit going on of course and sometimes, I think it’s good to just have those conversations with players. Today, she scored a good goal and I think we have to give enormous credit to her.”
Manchester City have endured a mixed start to the second half of the season but back-to-back wins could help the club kick on again. Taylor hailed his players for the way that they have bounced back from recent setbacks.
He said “The mood is really good. The attitude, the body language and the behaviours of the players have been absolutely spot on. I think whenever we have had a negative this season, and we’ve had a lot of good moments [too], the reactions to the negatives have been really good.”
Manchester City return to action when they face Liverpool at The Joie Stadium on Sunday evening.
