Chelsea have made a good start to the season under Enzo Maresca and have only lost one of their first seven Premier League games.

The Blues currently sit fourth on 14 points from a possible 21 and some players have already begun to establish themselves as undroppable in this early stage of the season.

Cole Palmer is rightly receiving a lot of plaudits for his performances, but both Colwill and Madueke have nailed down regular starting spots in Maresca’s strongest side.

Madueke has made the right wing spot his own and has four goals in seven Premier League games, form which saw him rewarded with his England debut in September and he earned his third cap for the Three Lions in Sunday’s win against Finland in the Nations League.

The 22-year-old has really matured as a player and has improved a lot since the end of last season, and is even keeping summer signing Pedro Neto out of the side, with the Portugal international recently stating he feels he’s getting back to his best.

Colwill has been speaking about Madueke and praised the defensive side of his game, which not many people tend to talk about.

“Yeah, I love when I see it from Noni, because everything he does attacking is him, it’s down to him, you know. We all know he’s going to beat his man nine out of 10 times,” he said in an interview on Chelsea’s YouTube channel.

“And I trust him. I can close my eyes when the ball goes to him because I know something is going to happen, but defensively, you know, as wingers and attackers, they sometimes lack that bit, and they don’t do it as much for the team as you need, which with him, it has been both sides.

“And, for a defender, that’s the best thing in the world to see. And I want him to score loads of goals and assist loads of goals when he’s doing that stuff because he deserves it.”

The pair are likely to both start for Chelsea in their huge game against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday as the Blues look to record a statement win.
