West Ham United have had a disappointing Premier League campaign under Julen Lopetegui.

Recent reports claim the Hammers have finally run out of patience with the Spaniard as they have decided to sack him.

There hasn’t been any official confirmation yet, but it is clear Lopetegui is on the brink and West Ham are in discussion with Graham Potter to take over as their new manager.

But whoever sits in the London Stadium hot-seat, the need for new signings in the January transfer window is clear.

This is particularly true in midfield, as both Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez have struggled to perform this season.

West Ham could sign £30m ace

According to The Athletic, the East Londoners are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues in the summer for £30 million, but he is reportedly most likely to leave on loan this month.

The English footballer played an instrumental role in helping Enzo Maresca’s Leicester City side win Premier League promotion last term.

He then joined his manager in the capital, but the move hasn’t worked out for him.

He has been struggling for game time at Chelsea, making just five substitute appearances in the English top-flight.

Despite his struggles at Stamford Bridge, Dewsbury-Hall is a top midfielder, and could be a smart acquisition for West Ham.

He has proven his abilities in the Championship, making 83 appearances for Leicester and Luton Town, with 35 goal contributions.

Dewsbury-Hall put in some good performances in the EFL Cup and Conference League, but has failed to establish himself in Maresca’s first-team due to huge competition for places.
