If Rangers weren’t in big enough trouble after St Mirren, the latest dropped points at the hands of Motherwell (and that single point came at the hand of two goals questionably ruled out for the Steelmen) has seen the absolute widespread end for Ibrox manager Philippe Clement.
Of course, it’s not official, and will still require the board to find £6M to pay the man off, or his humility to resign and save the club a tonne of cash, but the end is inevitable.
AC Milan just fired Paolo Fonseca, Utd parted ways with their Baldy (although his replacement is managing to be worse) and Man City might actually consider letting Guardiola go as well.
Clement’s end at Rangers is coming, but how it happens is not going to be easy.
Ibrox Noise was slightly amused at the revisionism of many fans yesterday – as the enlightened among you will know this site has polled fan approval (or otherwise) of Clement ever since early this year.
The numbers, as you’ll know, were consistently above 90% approval (August) until Rangers lost at Parkhead this season – it dipped to mid-70s,
After the loss at Pittodrie it finally crashed and he has been a lame duck since.
But of course fans being alerted to that August 91% poll? ‘who did you poll, tims’? ‘nonsense’, and all kinds of other dismissive rhetoric revising and gaslighting everything they’d said up till around Pittodrie. All while not realising the reference was to an August poll not a recent one.
We still recall that ‘are you a Rangers page’ after Rangers’ loss at Killie some months ago when we suggested Clement had to go.
This isn’t an ‘I told you so’, even if it sounds like it, we just have to have our say after months of abuse for saying it in the first place.
What now for Clement and Rangers?
He’s not the right man for the job, and has proven it – Patrick Stewart needs to find some way to sack the man and put us all out of our misery.
Only problem is we can’t think of anyone who could fix this mess.
