Troy Parrott has had a blistering start to his career at AZ Alkmaar after the forward’s £6.7 million move to the club in the summer.

Parrot was highly rated as he progressed through the academy ranks at Spurs but was unable to break into the first team regularly.

After impressing in the Eredivisie on loan at Excelsior last season, he joined AZ in the summer and has started impressively.

After an unsuccessful spell at Rangers last season, Lammers returned to the Eredivisie after just six months in Scotland. A loan spell at Utrecht saw Lammers score 10 goals in just 18 games over the second half of last season and led to a summer move to FC Twente.

He has started promisingly, with three goals in six league appearances.

Troy Parrott – AZ Alkmaar (13/2)

Parrott is fourth favourite to finish as the Eredivisie’s leading scorer and currently sits second in the standings.

The 22-year-old has five goals for the campaign, a return that includes a stunning four-goal performance in a 9–1 rout of Heerenveen. Ireland are lacking players shining in top leagues right now and Parrott’s performances in a foreign competition offer encouragement to The Boys in Green.

Sem Steijn – FC Twente (6/1)

Sem Steijn has started the season on fire for FC Twente, scoring eight goals in nine appearances from midfield to take an early lead in the race for the leading scorer accolade.

The 22-year-old boasts a prolific record since signing for Twente in 2022, scoring 34 times in 89 games across all competitions. If he maintains his current form, it will not be long before bigger clubs come knocking and a potential opportunity opens up with the Oranje.

Santiago Gimenez – Feyenoord (19/5)

Feyenoord rebuffed approaches for Santiago Gimenez in the summer as European clubs circled for the Mexican.

Nottingham Forest tried and failed to sign the striker, who has hit 53 goals in 92 appearances for the Rotterdam outfit since his arrival from Cruz Azul. Despite a comparatively slow start by his standards in 2024/25, Gimenez is likely to feature near the top of the scorer’s list at the season’s end.

Luuk de Jong – PSV Eindhoven (6/4)

Luuk de Jong might be 34 but the goals are not drying up for the Dutchman.

The veteran goal-getter claimed the Eredivisie Player of the Season and Dutch Footballer of the Year awards in 2023/24, after inspiring PSV Eindhoven to the title. He hit 29 league goals, the joint-most in the division alongside AZ’s Vangelis Pavlidis.

De Jong has now climbed to eighth among the Eredivisie’s all-time record scorers and has five for the campaign to date.
