Board member for sport Markus Krösche, head coach Dino Toppmöller and Jean-Mattéo Bahoya discuss the home win over AFC Ajax.
Board member for sport Markus Krösche: “It was important that we won, that we did so convincingly and boosted our confidence. We still have some difficult weeks ahead of us. I’m pleased for the team that they gave a good performance. We did a good job, scored the goals and deserved to progress over the two games. We have a certain quality and are capable of producing performances like that. We can still improve a lot of things, though, and we have fluctuations which we have to cut out. We’re very happy for the moment but we also know that it will be a completely different game at Bochum on Sunday.”
Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “It was the perfect performance and the perfect response to last Sunday. The boys carried it out brilliantly. The margin of victory was also deserved, we were the better team in both games against Ajax. Mario was extremely important defensively for us in the first leg, he had the job of containing the opponents’ holding midfielder in the 4-3-3. He plays in the service of the team, without shining or pushing himself into the foreground. It’s very nice that he was able to produce a performance like that. He certainly deserves big praise. It was a great team performance overall.”
Jean-Mattéo Bahoya: “The crowd in Frankfurt are something special, they’re the 12th man. That was one of the best games I’ve had for Eintracht, with a goal and lots of other good moments. We were more clinical and efficient today than we have been lately in the Bundesliga. We want to show that again on Sunday. Hopefully no one can stop us on the way to the final.”
