The Premier League Playmaker of the Season award was long overdue when introduced eight years ago, recognition of the best creators in the division.
Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, we’ve looked at the league’s leading assist providers.
Eight players provided 10 or more assists in the Premier League in 2024/25, with five names tied on 10 assists. Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes led the league for chances created, though some wasteful finishing from teammates prevented him from featuring higher on this list.
Mikkel Damsgaard won Brentford’s Player of the Season award after creating 10 goals, while no defender registered more assists than Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson.
Anthony Elanga has proven to be an excellent addition at Nottingham Forest. Snapped up from the fringes at Manchester United two years ago, the Swedish speedster has registered 31 goal involvements over the last two seasons.
Elanga produced a career-high of 11 assists in 2024/25, with his pace on transition and set-piece delivery a real threat for Forest.
Newcastle continue to be linked with right-sided reinforcements but Jacob Murphy made the position his own this season.
The 30-year-old delivered the best numbers of his career, scoring eight times and providing 12 assists in the Premier League. No English player created more goals than Murphy.
Mohamed Salah led the league for assists with 18 goals created in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign. Salah looked certain to break the single-season record (20) but his return slowed as Liverpool eased up over the run-in.
Still, the Egyptian has become the first player in history to win multiple Golden Boot and Playmaker Awards, having also topped the league for assists in 2021/22.
