Disappointed to return to the Principality with only one point, even if proud of the face shown by AS Monaco to reverse the scenario in Nantes (2-2), the two midfielders spoke in the mixed zone.

Mixed emotions was the story after the match. Obviously frustrated with only  getting a draw at the Beaujoire against FC Nantes (2-2), Lamine Camara and Saïmon Bouabré – who made his first professional start – nevertheless wanted to remember the reaction of the team, who fell behind by two goals after the restart. In any case, this is what they conveyed to the media at the end of the match. 🎙️

Good evening Lamine. What is the dominant impression after this draw?

Of course the result is disappointing, because we were there to win this match and leave with three points to catch up with Olympique de Marseille in the standings. Unfortunately we started the match badly, with a lack of desire. That’s what we tried to change in the second half, but it happened a little too late. What is nevertheless positive is that we were able to react by getting back on track.

We knew that we weren't at our best and that we hadn't given our all in the first half, which was a mistake because we conceded that first goal. The second didn't make things any easier for us at the restart either, but the coach was behind us and that's what allowed us to react.

Lamine CamaraAbout the team's intensity

How do you explain these two different levels?

The coach pushed us in the locker room at half-time. We knew that we weren’t at our best and that we hadn’t given our all in the first half, which was a mistake because we conceded that first goal. The second didn’t make things any easier for us at the restart either, but the coach was behind us and that’s what allowed us to react.

Did you feel better in the usual system in the second?

We work to master all the systems, because we work on them in training, so that was not the problem. The problem tonight was in terms of desire, we were too soft and it cost us dearly. We knew that this team would sit back and that they score when they have chances.

We made mistakes that we shouldn’t have, so we will try to correct them. We must nevertheless remember our positive reaction, and focus very quickly on the next match in the Coupe de France in Reims.

This result puts you under threat from Lille and Lyon in the standings…

We are indeed in danger of losing points to our direct competitors, but we still want to look ahead to catch up with Olympique de Marseille as quickly as possible. So we will focus on the next matches to try to win them.

Mes sensations étaient bonnes même si le match a été compliqué, notamment en première mi-temps. Ensuite nous avons bien réagi en marquant deux buts pour égaliser, et c’est ça qui est important.

Did the absences put you in difficulty tonight?

No, I don’t think so, because the young players who were there are good. They proved it in training, and that’s why the coach trusted them. So it’s not the absences of Maghnes, Golo’ or Takumi that explain the result, because we are all involved. We will try to concentrate to get back to winning ways in the next matches.

The reaction of Saïmon Bouabré

“I was happy to start, because it’s something I’ve been waiting for a long time. It’s nice, because it shows that our work isn’t for nothing, so it’s a great reward. My feelings were good even if the match was challenging, especially in the first half. We reacted well by scoring two goals to equalize, and that’s what’s important. My position? Since I was little, I’ve played in this area behind the striker. Eliesse (Ben Seghir) gave me advice before the match, to just play my game.”
