David Murray may be long gone from the world of Scottish football, but his legacy lives on in the shape of the compliant Scottish mainstream media.

Murray was famed for his ‘moonbeams’ and the media have continued to spin tales of fantasy that Minty would have been proud of back in the day.

Their latest piece had the Ibrox club linked with a cash injection courtesy of some American billionaire, ironically immediately after the news broke that the Ibrox club had suffered a huge damaging £17m loss in their latest financial report.

Just a few weeks ago a wealthy Scots businessman was also linked with investing into the club, but just like the far east investors or whatever part of the world they hail from, it can’t happen due to two simple reasons.

Firstly new UEFA rules would make it pointless, and secondly, no sane businessman or woman would even think of parting with their cash into the financial basket case that is the Rangers international football club.

The media know this fine well, but they need to keep the hordes happy with some positive headlines, even if they don’t happen to be accurate. They print what they are told without checking. David Murray will be feeling rather nostalgic, perhaps even proud that his succulent lamb legacy lives on in the Scottish media.
