A report from England has claimed that Crystal Palace are ready to spend big on AC Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic, who their head coach is a big admirer of.

According to The Sun, Palace boss Oliver Glasner wants to sign Pavlovic in a £25million (around €30m) deadline day deal. Glasner is ‘a huge fan of the powerful Serb’ but it is ‘an ambitious target’ given that he has been in the starting XI more recently.

Having joined from Red Bull Salzburg last summer it has been a rollercoaster season already in terms of performance levels and game time, but there has definitely been a recent upturn with some battling performances.

Glasner wants competition at the back and also ‘has one eye on a long-term replacement for Marc Guehi’, who keeps being linked with an exit. Milan are expected to hold out for a fee of around €42m, which is why the London club have Tiago Djalo an alternative if Pavlovic is too expensive.

Pavlovic has already been linked with a number of different clubs during the winter window, starting with Fenerbahce and then continuing with their big rivals Galatasaray, and most recently even Atalanta were mentioned as being keen on him.
