Arsenal have been knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by PSG following their 2-1 away loss at Paris’ Parc des Princes this Wednesday night. Tonight’s loss means that the Gunners had to bow out of Europe’s premier club competition after an aggregate 3-1 loss to Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens. “I think we were very close; much closer than the results showed. I’m very proud of the players and what they’ve done today, how we handled the pressure“, Arteta said to TNT Sports. “I don’t think there’s been a better team in the competition so far.”

The Spaniard congratulated his former club for reaching the Champions League final, where PSG will face Serie A giants Inter on Saturday, May 31st, in Munich. It will be Les Parisiens‘ second UCL final in their history, five years after a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich. Arteta believes that Arsenal deserved so much more in both games. “When you look at who has been their best player on the pitch over the two games, it’s been their goalkeeper.”
