Thiago Almada (23) has been presented to his new teammates at Olympique Lyonnais ahead of his move to the French club, RMC Sport understands.
Despite the imposition of a recruitment ban by the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, Almada looks set to make the switch to Lyon from another club within the Eagle Football multi-club model, Botafogo. He is set to join OL on loan until the end of the season.
While the move has not yet been officialised, Almada is already in Lyon, and on Monday, he was even presented to his new teammate at the club’s training centre. The Argentina international joined Botafogo, also owned by John Textor, in July 2024 making a big impact and helping the side win the Copa Libertadores before earning a swift move to Europe with OL.
A permanent move had initially been touted for Almada. It remains to be seen whether the playmaker’s move to the Groupama Stadium will become a permanent deal at the end of the current campaign.
