We’re very curious to see the starting lineup for tomorrow night’s game against Wolves.

There are a number of players potentially out, and a number of players potentially in. It’s been a while since we awaited a team sheet with so many question marks.

In terms of who is out, on top of the players who were already out, Enzo Maresca this week announced that Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill and Romeo Lavia had all missed at least one session of training. We didn’t get any more information from him on why or how severe their issues are though, so it’s very much a wait and see situation.

In terms of who could be in, Trevoh Chalobah has been recalled from loan and could start – and there’s also the tantalising possibility of Reece James getting a start. He played 45 minutes in the cup and then half an hour in the league on Tuesday. There’s certainly a possibility he gets a first start of 2025 here.

His absence since mid-November has been a massive blow to this team’s potential.

Reece James celebrates his late free kick against Bournemouth.

Enzo Maresca had the following to say about his captain in the press conference on Friday:

“Reece is an important player for us and one of the most important because he’s our captain and because we know how good he is. Since we started he hasn’t always been fit, but he is better now and with him back we are happy.”

That doesn’t give us too many clues about whether he will be in the team tomorrow or not, but we’re pretty hopeful. James’ presence makes us a far better and more dangerous side, and could be the crucial difference which helps us snap our winless run.
