Newcastle United fans have just seen the 2024/25 Premier League season come to its end.

A season that has proved to be quite magnificent.

As one season ends though, thoughts immediately turn to what comes next, only 11 weeks to go until the 2025/26 Premier League kicks off.

An ideal time to get a snapshot of views from Newcastle United fans on their thoughts, both on the season that has just ended AND what is to now follow.

So we sent out questions to a number of regular/irregular contributors to The Mag.

First up answering the questions we have Bazoox:

Three words to describe how you currently feel as a Newcastle fan?

Hungry for more (After waiting so long to see my beloved team win silverware my appetite has been whetted considerably).

Three words to describe Newcastle United now?

On the Up (Eddie Howe is on the brink of taking Newcastle United to an unprecedented level).

Which are your three favourite previous NUFC seasons (before 2024/25) and why?

1983/84 – The superb attacking trident of Keegan, Waddle and Beardsley.

1992/93  – The ’11 in a Row’, the likes of Liam O’Brien and David Kelly at their finest, great times on and off the pitch.

2009/10 – The Honourable Chris Hughton and his team knuckling down and bonding together to restore our pride, after the humiliation of our first relegation under Mike Ashley.

Talk us through how it was for you, on the last day of the 2024/25 season (Your emotions, how it all played out, where you were watching it (at SJP or wherever), who you shared it with?

Let’s put it this way, United were extremely disappointing and I never want to go through an experience like it again anytime soon.

In order, which eight players have been most influential across the 2024/25 season?

Dan Burn, Alexander Isak, Sandro Tonali, Jacob Murphy, Bruno Guimaraes, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Fabian Schar

Have you at any point during his time at Newcastle United, thought that Eddie Howe’s position should be under question?

I thought that Eddie’s position “could” not “should” (as the question implies) have been under question before Christmas.

I think the Board of Directors would have naturally been concerned with the team’s inconsistency and Eddie’s ability to improve and turn things around.

Your favourite three moments in NUFC Premier League matches this past season?

Dan Burn’s header in the Cup Final that gave us the lead against the red scousers at Wembley.

Ice Cold Alex’s killer goal in the same game that turned out to be the winner and brought an end to a 70 years domestic trophy drought.

The final whistle blowing in our last game of the season and finding out we were in next season’s Champions League.

What are your thoughts on Newcastle United Sporting Director Paul Mitchell leaving?

Fans shouldn’t be too alarmed or concerned.

I trust in the Board of Directors and Eddie Howe to make the right choices in gearing up for next season and ultimately keep moving our club forward.

Sunderland are now back in the same division as NUFC, your thoughts?

I believe their fickle fans will be as bitter and annoying as ever.

I cannot stand them or their old club, who apparently won a few titles when both William Gladstone and Archibald Primrose were Prime Ministers in the 1890s.

Little Sunderland will be beyond any hope of staying up by Feb/March 2026.

What would represent success in the 2025/26 season for Newcastle United?

Having a good run in the Champions League and getting into the knockout stages.

Giving Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal something to think about at the top of the Prem.

What do you see as the minimum to achieve this coming season?

Qualification for the Champions League and I would love to either defend the Carabao Cup, or even have a great run in the FA Cup.

Predict the top six in the Premier League (in order) and which three clubs will be relegated.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, *Man City, Aston Villa, Chelsea (asterisk for City due to the 115 charges).

Wolves 18th Burnley 19th Mackems 20th

Name a Newcastle player who you think could be a massive surprise success this coming season, doing far better than most fans expect.

It won’t be a surprise to me. Lewis Miley is a phenomenal young talent who has been excellently nurtured by Eddie. He’s going to be figuring more often as we are now going to be fighting on four fronts.

Who do you see as the six most important current Newcastle players (in order) for next (2025/26) season?

Alexander Isak, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and possibly Harvey Barnes.

Anthony Gordon needs to get back to his best and quick.

With NUFC now having won a trophy…Next three seasons, would you rather finish top four all three seasons BUT win nothing, or finish mid-table all three seasons AND win the League Cup in one of the three?

Obviously, now we have won the League Cup, I would rather cement our position as a Champions League club.

What do you think was the key moment in the 2024/25 season, the turning point maybe, which then set us eventually on track to success?

Eddie tweaking the midfield and switching Bruno and Sandro.

If Newcastle United had ended up outside the Champions League places on the final day, would this last season have had a bit of failure attached to it?

Yes it would, considering how well we had played in the Premier League since winning the Cup, to get into the top five.

Which players do you think would be ideal (and realistic) signings this summer (don’t feel limited to only players who have been linked to Newcastle United in the media)?

Make Bryan Mbeumo our one big signing. I’ll leave the rest to Rock Steady Eddie.

Any Newcastle players you would be ok with leaving, that might surprise other NUFC fans (Including any where you think the money received for them and the extra PSR flexibility it would give, could then lead to an overall better team/squad)

I don’t particularly want to lose any of our star players. I would offload Longstaff and Willock who have both been tremendous servants, plus some other fringe players.
