Title Pressure – Celtic can handle it but what about Aberdeen?

There’s pressure on us to win on Saturday, as always. Aberdeen will also be expected to get a result, will they be able to handle it?

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Saturday’s game against Aberdeen will be our biggest game of the season domestically. The Dons like ourselves have a one hundred percent record in the league and will be heading to Celtic park in good spirits.

Aberdeen fancy their chances

Unsurprisingly the Aberdeen players and supporters fancy their chances, and will be looking to get a favourable result that will make them serious title contenders. Yes of course they are contenders at the moment after a blistering start to the season, but there were no expectations on them at the start of the campaign . They simply went about their business without any serious pressure and have done brilliantly to win all their matches.

Take Hearts as an example

You only need to look at Hearts as an example of the consequence of them having high expectations placed upon your shoulders. The Jambos were tipped by some to make a title challenge, but they have wilted under those expectations and currently sit bottom of the league. One of their players last week was saying that Hearts could win the league. He must have been thinking about next season’s Championship title.

Uncharted territory for Aberdeen

That’s the same pressure that is now on Aberdeen as they head to Celtic Park. Celtic have shown throughout the years that they can handle that pressure, but for the Dons it is uncharted territory. Their record in recent times at Celtic Park is terrible, one dead rubber win is all that I can recall. Changed days from when Alex Ferguson would bring his team to Glasgow determined to win at all costs.

We’ll know just before 5pm on Saturday

If Aberdeen are serious about being up there at the end of the season, then they have to show they can handle the mental aspect that comes with a title challenge. Celtic certainly has it, but so they? We’ll know just before five o’clock on Saturday afternoon.
