As the January transfer window approaches in Serie A, here is a look back on the most expensive incoming players in the history of the division.
Dusan Vlahovic remains the most expensive January transfer in history, in terms of both incoming and departing players. The fee of €70m plus up to €10m in bonuses that Juventus paid Fiorentina back in 2022 is not expected to be broken in January 2025.
Juventus also made the second-most expensive January signing in Serie A history with their purchase of Dejan Kulusevski back in January of 2022.
Milan, who paid around €35m to sign Lucas Paqueta from Flamengo back in 2019, complete the top three most expensive January signings in Serie A.
Several of the top 10 most expensive January transfers happened over 20 years ago, with one occurring in the 1990s.
They are Clarence Seedorf, who moved from Real Madrid to Inter, although technically in December of 1999, Adriano, who moved from Parma to Inter in 2004, and Hidetoshi Nakata, who joined Roma from Perugia in the winter of 2000.
