Toronto FC have signed defensive midfielder Deybi Flores from Fehervar FC in Hungary. The 27 year old is a Honduras international with 35 total caps and 1 assist. Flores makes his return to MLS where he previously won a Canadian Championship with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Flores has 243 total career games played between; CD Olimpia, Vancouver Whitecaps, Panetolikos GFS, Fehervar FC, CD Motagua, and the Vancouver Whitecaps 2. In those games he has scored a total of 9 goals and 4 assists. During his time between Olimpia and Motagua, Flores has won four Honduran Apertura titles as well as one Honduran Clausura title.
Flores adds to a Toronto FC midfield of; Jonathan Osorio, Brandon Servania, Latif Blessing, Alonso Coello, and potentially Kosi Thompson. I could see Flores coming in as the starting defensive midfielder on this squad. This team hasn’t truly had a strong number 6 on this roster since the prime years of Michael Bradley. This is one of the early signings/moves of the John Herdman era of Toronto FC. I expect to see more for Herdman and this front office with many much needed moves behind this Deybi Flores signing.
