Daniel Levy is the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, and with the club sitting 16th in the Premier League, there is absolutely no love for him among Spurs fans. During the club's 3-1 win over Bodo Glimt in the Europa League, they serenaded him with boos and jeers throughout the evening, including one particularly creative chant.
Tottenham got off to a hot start against Bodo Glimt in the first leg of the Europa League semifinals with a rapid-fire headed goal from poacher Brennan Johnson after some great work from Pedro Porro and Richarlison to set the play up.
That set the tone for the rest of the game, as Tottenham closed out a 3-1 win, with Bodo Glimt only getting some sense of pride to keep the tie alive with a late goal from star man Ulrik Saltnes. Although Tottenham were enjoying a victorious romp of the first leg, they noticed Daniel Levy in attendance at the home game and gave him some grief.
The most creative of those jeers, as captured by The Spurs Express, came in the second half when star midfielder/winger Dejan Kulusevski came onto the pitch. They sang, "I don’t care about Levy, he don’t care about me, all I care about is Kulusevski."
Admittedly, Tottenham fans have come up with even better taunts directed at Levy, but with a movement against the club and the chairman formally bubbling from the supporters, it makes a chant like this one strike the right cord when Levy is in attendance.
Levy did increase the club's investmetn in recent years compared to before, but there has stil been a striking lack of ambition from Tottenham in comparison to their peers in the league, particularly London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
Spurs have lost a record number of games this season under Ange Postecoglou, but the manager alone can't have to answer for that. Levy has shown that there is a certain caliber of player he is not willing to go after, as evidenced by Tottenham not making a serious play for current PSG star Desire Doue this past summer transfer window.
Changes are coming to Tottenham, and the fans are showing that they clearly blame Levy and the club structure more than the players on the pitch for the current woes. The chant indicates a backing of stars like Kulusevski and a disdain for those making the decisions at Tottenham.
