Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI vs Liverpool: Confirmed Team News and Predicted Lineup

As Tottenham Hotspur prepare for their daunting Premier League trip to Liverpool on Sunday, Ange Postecoglou is grappling with the delicate task of balancing immediate league duties against the looming Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt. With silverware now tantalisingly within reach, the Australian manager must carefully weigh his team selection for the Anfield showdown.
Postecoglou, who has often rotated his squad to maintain freshness, will almost certainly continue that policy this weekend. Yet some key players, having sat out the recent win over Nottingham Forest, are expected to return to action, needing vital minutes to sharpen up for Thursday’s European assignment.
Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson are all likely to feature in some capacity against Liverpool, even if the primary focus is firmly on the Europa League. Liverpool, under the stewardship of Arne Slot, need just a point to secure the Premier League title, adding extra intensity to a fixture that rarely needs added spice.

Tottenham Hotspur’s backline is almost certain to see wholesale changes. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, two vital defensive pillars, are expected to be protected for the European clash. Youngster Archie Gray could step in at right-back, offering Pedro Porro a well-earned breather, while on the opposite flank Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence are competing for a starting berth.
There was a flicker of hope regarding Heung-min Son’s fitness after he trained outdoors on Friday, but it remains a race against time for the South Korean star. “We don’t really have injury problems,” Postecoglou said. “Obviously Sonny’s the one that’s kind of working, trying to work his way back, and he’s improving, which is positive for us, not for Sunday.”
Should Son miss out, Mathys Tel appears the most likely candidate to replace him on the left. Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, and promising academy graduate Mikey Moore also offer Postecoglou additional options against Liverpool, who are expected to field a full-strength side given the stakes.

Elsewhere, Radu Dragusin remains unavailable due to a long-term knee injury, while Kevin Danso is pushing for a starting spot after recovering from a hamstring issue sustained in March. His inclusion could prove crucial in shoring up a Spurs defence likely to come under severe pressure at Anfield.
With so much riding on the coming week, it would be little surprise to see Tottenham Hotspur field a blended XI of youth and experience. The predicted lineup for the clash against Liverpool could look like this:
Tottenham Hotspur (4-3-3): Vicario; Gray, Danso, Davies, Udogie; Bergvall, Sarr, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Odobert
Injured: Son (foot), Dragusin (knee)
Match Details:
While much of the attention for Tottenham Hotspur fans will be directed towards Thursday’s Europa League semi-final, a strong performance at Anfield could be vital not only for momentum but also for securing a European place through the Premier League. Postecoglou himself admitted that final decisions are yet to be made: “Apart from obviously the longer-term ones, everyone else from the last game has backed up really well, so the rest of the squad’s fit and available, and in terms of team selection we’ll see. We’ve got another 48 hours to decide which way we go.”
Liverpool, meanwhile, will be looking to wrap up the Premier League title in style, and Slot will expect no favours from a Spurs side with plenty to prove.
