Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Rayan Cherki is shaping up to be one of the most sought-after names in this summer’s transfer window. The 21-year-old has been in stellar form this season, racking up eight goals and 18 assists, which has drawn attention from several of Europe’s top clubs.

Graeme Bailey of TBR Football previously reported that Manchester United are among the Premier League sides keeping an eye on Cherki. Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are also reportedly tracking the Lyon playmaker.

The interest isn’t just coming from England. Bayern Munich and PSG have both rejoined the chase, impressed by Cherki’s recent performances and now weighing up potential summer bids.

Chelsea was once considered the frontrunner for Cherki’s signature but have since cooled their interest following the arrivals of Cole Palmer, Kendry Paez, and Estevao. Still, the Blues remain admirers and haven’t ruled out a move down the line.

In an interview with RMC Sport (h/t Le10Sport), Guy Roux couldn’t hide his admiration for Rayan Cherki, calling him “one of the prodigies of French football.”

The former AJ Auxerre coach went on to say, “Cherki never makes mistakes, like a student getting a perfect score on a dictation. Every ball he touches turns into a good one.”

Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Cherki, with the 20-year-old drawing interest from several clubs, but United is currently ahead in the transfer race, The Mirror reports.

Cherki is expected to cost around £20 million, and United see the French midfielder as a potential boost to their attack.
