Tottenham aim to continue their impressive Premier League form in front of goal when they host Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday at 4:30pm.
Tottenham (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Danso, Davies, Spence; Bentancur, Sarr, Bergvall; Kulusevski, Son, Tel
Man Utd (3-4-2-1): Onana; Yoro, Maguire, Mazraoui; Dalot, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu; Diallo, Garnacho; Zirkzee
This match will be a showdown between two struggling ‘big six’ clubs, with United currently sitting in 13th place with 29 points, while Tottenham are in 14th with 27 points. With 14 matches remaining, United are 12 points behind fifth-placed Manchester City, who occupy a Europa League spot. Spurs are 14 points away from that same position.
In their last league match, Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. On the other hand, Tottenham ended a seven-match winless streak by winning their previous Premier League game 2-0 against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
In their last encounter in the Premier League, Tottenham triumphed over Manchester United with a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford in September. Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Spurs in the third minute, followed by goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham has had the upper hand over United recently, remaining unbeaten in the last four Premier League matches between the two teams. Manchester United are seeking their first league win against Tottenham since October 2022. During this period, Spurs have outscored United, finding the net nine times while conceding four goals.
For the 2024/2025 season, Manchester United’s standout attackers have been Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes, with Diallo scoring six goals and Fernandes netting five.
Tottenham’s standout players this season include James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, and Brennan Johnson. Maddison is the club’s leading scorer with eight goals, while Solanke and Johnson have each scored seven.
Tottenham will welcome back goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after over two months out with a fractured foot, likely replacing Antonin Kinsky in the starting XI against United.
Destiny Udogie and James Maddison are expected to return but will probably start on the bench. Wingers Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, and Wilson Odobert are training but may not be ready to start.
Ange Postecoglou faces decisions in midfield and centre-back, with Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray competing for three midfield spots. Kevin Danso and Ben Davies are expected to lead the defence.
Dejan Kulusevski might start as a No. 8 or on the right wing, while Postecoglou must choose between Heung-min Son and Mathys Tel as the striker.
Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, and Radu Dragusin remain sidelined with injuries.
United will not have any injured players available. Lisandro Martinez is out with a serious knee injury, and Luke Shaw has had a recent setback. Mason Mount and Jonny Evans are also unavailable, leaving head coach Ruben Amorim with the same squad as last week.
Alejandro Garnacho may start after being on the bench against Leicester, while Patrick Dorgu could make his first league start. Additionally, the United squad is dealing with a sickness bug ahead of the Spurs game, although the severity of this issue is still unclear.
