Four defeats in five for Spurs leaves Ange Postecoglou fearing for his job
Tottenham welcome Wolves to town on Sunday amid growing doubts over manager Ange Postecoglou’s future.
A 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest left the club in 12th place and with a points tally closer to the relegation zone than the top four.
To make matters worse, their injury crisis worsened to leave Spurs possibly without a fit centre-back for the visit of Matteus Cunha & Co.
Wolves have won both their games under new manager Vitor Pereira - a third may spell the end of Postecoglou at Spurs.
Tottenham vs Wolves is scheduled for a 3pm BST kick-off on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
The match will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
TV channel and live stream: In the UK, the game will not be televised live.
Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport’s live blog, with expert analysis from Dan Kilpatrick at the ground.
Spurs' decimated defence has somehow got even worse with Radu Dragusin going off injured against Nottingham Forest and Djed Spence picking up a one-match ban for two yellow cards. Ben Davies has suffered a setback in his return from injury, so misses out.
There is hope Dragusin will be able to play, but otherwise Yves Bissouma will deputise alongside fellow makeshift defender Archie Gray at centre-back.
For Wolves, it's all looking rosy and they could even welcome Mario Lemina back after a calf injury. Hwang Hee-chan is pushing to start after scoring against Manchester United.
A few weeks ago you could confidently say that there is no predicting what Spurs team will show up. However, after four defeats in five, it's easy to predict a poor one will line up on Sunday.
Spurs are still creating chances but this Wolves side will not offer them much space in behind, while also exploiting the same opportunities behind Ange Postecoglou's high line. This could be another painful day for Spurs.
