Tottenham travel to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa in the FA Cup’s fourth round this afternoon.
After elimination from the Carabao Cup on Thursday night, Ange Postecoglou will be determined to avoid another route to silverware coming to a premature end. Spurs were well beaten at Liverpool in their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg and next face another tough test at Villa Park.
Postecoglou remains without a wealth of senior players, though Spurs brought in reinforcements late in the window. Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel debuted at Liverpool and add depth to a depleted squad.
Aston Villa are also aiming to bounce back from a poor result. Unai Emery’s side lost 2-0 at Wolves last weekend in a result that dented their top four hopes.
Postecoglou confirmed in his pre-match press conference that none of his injured stars will return this weekend. Richarlison’s calf injury has added another name to those missing.
Mathys Tel, who made his debit off the bench on Thursday, is expected to come in at centre-forward.
In terms of absentees, it’s a long list. Big hitters Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Destiny Udogie are all out. They’re joined by Radu Dragusin, Timo Werner, and Wilson Odobert in the treatment room.
Spurs predicted XI: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Davies, Spence; Gray, Bentancur, Bergvall; Kulusevski, Son, Tel.
Aston Villa host Tottenham in the FA Cup’s fourth round on Sunday 9th February 2025. Kick-off at Villa Park is 17:35 GMT.
Aston Villa vs Tottenham will be available to watch on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online.
