Tottenham Hotspur head to Tamworth in a classic FA Cup third-round tie this weekend.
Ange Postecoglou’s side travel to the 4,963-capacity Lamb Ground to take on the non-league side, who are seeking a historic giant-killing in a competition made famous by upsets.
The venue is a world away from Spurs’ state-of-the-art Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with volunteers having helped ensure the winter weather did not disrupt the tie. There are just 518 seats at the ground.
Tottenham travel to Tamworth after beating Liverpool 1-0 in the first-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final in midweek. Lucas Bergvall’s goal secured a first win in five games to ease some of the pressure on Postecoglou.
There are 96 places between the two teams in English football’s pyramid. Tamworth, one of just two non-league teams remaining, were promoted into the fifth tier last season. The Lambs are currently 16th in the table and have eliminated two League One sides to reach the third round.
Ange Postecoglou continues to contend with a wealth of injuries, with his defence decimated in recent weeks. Changes are expected as Postecoglou looks to provide rest to several players over-used in recent weeks.
Academy graduates Alfie Dorrington and Will Lankshear could come in to hand Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray much-needed rest, while the largely overlooked Sergio Reguilon will hope for minutes at left-back. Lucas Bergvall, who scored the winner against Liverpool, could continue in midfield, while Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner could be recalled in the wide roles.
Tottenham predicted XI: Kinsky; Spence, Dorrington, Dragusin, Reguilon; Sarr, Bergvall, Maddison; Johnson, Lankshear, Werner.
Tamworth host Tottenham in the FA Cup’s third round on Sunday 12th January 2025. Kick-off at The Lamb Ground is 12:30pm GMT.
Tamworth vs Tottenham will be available to watch on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
