The European adventure for Inter Primavera has come to an end in the quarter-finals. Andrea Zanchetta's side couldn't make to the most of the chances created in the match against Trabzonspor and conceded in the latter stages.
A long journey, which began with the League Phase in September and ended in Trabzon, a city sitting on the Black Sea, where legendary pages in the history books have been written. Inter played for qualification to the Youth League Final Four, a feat which has never been achieved by Inter Primavera: Zanchetta's side were looking for an impressive display in an epic city. The Trabzonspor fans mirrored this in the Şenol Güneş Spor Kompleksi, as the stadium was filled with nearly 40,000 spectators. Despite the palpable tension and rising pressure, Inter took to the field with conviction and created many chances, especially in the first half. Trabzonspor responded with energy and lots of physicality, in a bid to raise the nerves of the Nerazzurri. The best chance came in the 39th minute as Cocchi was brought down in the area by Malkocoglu and Inter were awarded a penalty. Topalovic stepped up to take it and struck the ball down the middle, seeing his effort saved by Colak's feet. Three minutes later, Spinaccè also went close to scoring, but he couldn't manage to make the most of Cocchi's perfect cross. The script changed in the second half: Trabzonspor gathered courage and pressed all over the pitch and forced the Inter players into making mistakes. Terzi, a forward who just came on, made the most of a misunderstanding between Lavelli and Topalovic, sprinted towards the Inter box and shot. His deflected shot found the back of the net: Trabzonspor went ahead in the 77th minute and resisted in the latter stages, boosted by their incredible support.
