Everyone is back for the Aston Villa Women as preparation for the final matches of the WSL is underway. The international break came at a time when Natalia Arroyo would have likely wished for another fixture shortly after beating Liverpool.
She will now be charged with recapturing the overall improved play that earned AVWFC the result and keeping the gap large enough to worry about Crystal Palace potentially overtaking Villa in the standings. If the manager can get her side back into form from the prior weeks, then that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
As shared on the AVWFC social media account, everyone is back at Bodymoor Heath, and everyone looked ready for the final weeks of the season. Following the latest Villa practice, with plenty of smiles to be seen, the unified camaraderie and togetherness were very evident.
Four games and the opportunity to earn 12 points remain for Villa. Their next test will be against Tottenham. Arroyo knows what is needed from her side to stay up. More importantly, however, she will look for her team to continue to play well and put on a full 90-minute performance.
Players like Noelle Maritz and Anna Patten are coming off strong performances for their home nation teams in defense. Missy Bo Kearns and Katie Robinson also return after helping the Young Lionesses. Those who played for their national team will hope to keep a good rhythm for themselves. For those who didn't receive the call-up, they'll look to stay sharp with the final weeks of the season, leaving plenty to play for.
Villa currently have a four-point cushion between them and Palace. Sunday, April 20th, Arroyo's side will look to further increase that gap against Spurs. Considering Tottenham themselves have struggled throughout the season, Aston Villa Women will like their chances to resume their action back from the international break with three points.
