There are growing reports that the Premier League and LaLiga will agree to close the summer transfer window before the 2025-26 season kicks off, so Serie A and others could follow suit.
It has long been a complaint from coaches, players and clubs that the market is still in full flow when the competitive matches have already started.
This created numerous problems, for example Atalanta doing without Teun Koopmeiners for the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid because he was trying to force through the transfer to Juventus.
According to The Times newspaper, negotiations are progressing well for Premier League and LaLiga clubs who are eager to agree a deal that will close the transfer window by August 15.
This should also be joined by the other top five leagues, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1, to maintain some level of consistency.
It does still leave a very big concern because lucrative clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Qatar Stars League will not be party to this agreement, so could conceivably tempt players away with no option of bringing in a replacement.
