Trabzonspor walk away from the deal for Tottenham Hotspur outcast Danny Rose

According to Football.london, Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor have pulled the plug on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur outcast Danny Rose. The deal looked to be imminent only for the Turks to walk away on the eve of deadline day.

The 30-year-old is currently Tottenham’s longest-serving player having been at the club since 2007. He has, however, fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho and has been relegated to just another name associated with the club.

Rose spent the second half of last season out on loan at Newcastle United.  His return last summer did little to change his standing. Not only was he not given a kit number but was also omitted from the club’s Premier League and Europa League squads.

The move to Trabzonspor would have been ideal for him to reignite his flagging career. Rose was offered a three-and-a-half-year deal to ply his trade n Turkey. The Turks have, however, rescinded it thanks to COVID protocols.

“The transfer is very difficult after this time.”

Club president Ahmet Agaoglu admitted that the transfer will take around seven days to be finalized. He rather the club focus on deals that they can get over the line right now.

“It will cost [take] seven days. Let’s make the transfers we can do [right now].”

Rose would have to follow strict quarantine guidelines if he were to move abroad and also deal with a seven-day window in Turkey for arrivals from the UK. A similar issue also saw Mesut Ozil’s move to Fenerbahce from Arsenal getting held up.

West Bromwich Albion were also keen on Rose. The player, however, appeared to favour a move away from England. With that avenue now closed and time running out it remains to be seen if the Baggies will make a last-minute offer.

The player’s contract expires this summer, bringing an end to what will be a 14-year stay in North London.
