Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly agreed terms on a deal to join Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer transfer window.
The England full-back’s future has been up in the air all season long as Liverpool have been thus far unable to convince him to sign a new contract.
The 26-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer, meaning he is currently free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs abroad before the transfer window opens in June.
Alexander-Arnold has been a long-term target for Real, who saw a £20 million bid rejected by the Reds in January, and it appears they are on the cusp of getting their man.
The Liverpool star and the LaLiga giants have reached an agreement on personal terms for a five-year contract, which will see him earn €15m (£12.5m) before tax per annum, according to Sky Sports Switzerland.
The contract includes “attractive performance bonuses” and he will receive a signing-on bonus “equivalent to a reasonable transfer fee”, it is claimed. The deal was agreed in principle in recent weeks, dashing Liverpool’s hopes of holding onto their academy graduate.
Alexander-Arnold has been at the club since he was six years of age before going on to make his senior debut at 18. He has since made 349 appearances in all competitions across the past nine seasons, winning the Premier League, Uefa Champions League, FA Cup and two League Cups.
Liverpool have been dealt an additional blow by Real, the same report claims, as Los Merengues are also making a move for Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen. The Spain international has been linked with the Merseyside outfit, but “dreams” of playing for Real.
