Troy Deeney has picked his best 12 performers from the weekend’s action.

The Premier League team of the week (and manager) that have most impressed him.

Included in his dozen choices are four from Newcastle United.

This NUFC quartet playing a key role in the demolition of Aston Villa.

Troy Deeney explains his BBC Sport choice of the four from Newcastle United for his Premier League team of the week (and manager) and then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:

Joelinton (Newcastle United):

“He is a beast of a man.

“If you remember he was actually bought as a number nine.

“How silly were they?

“He is a centre-midfielder and has been excellent in Newcastle’s rise for the past four weeks.

“He’s in the team for the first time this season.”

Anthony Gordon (Newcastle United) and Cody Gazpo (Liverpool)):

“Both these players were excellent and dynamic.

“They drove their teams forward and both scored.

“They were both thorns in the opposition’s side and looking like the players we know they can be.”

Alexander Isak (Newcastle United):

“Back again, the man, the myth, Mr Isak.

“He’s the best striker in the Premier League currently.

“Arsenal, just sign him and you’ll win the league, it’s really not that difficult.”

Eddie Howe (Newcastle United):

“He lost out on the England job and he’s the only English manager that realistically had a chance of getting it.

“So it’s good to see him doing well.

“We just need to see some more consistency.”

I’m not sure what happened with Garth Crooks BUT why on earth BBC Sport thought it was a good idea to give a clown such as Troy Deeney this cosy job, is beyond me.

He is absolutely woeful, a poor man’s Gabby Agbonlahor, Troy Deeney should stick to doing wind up stuff on the likes of Talksport and other lame media elsewhere. The fact that we as TV license payers are funding Deeney’s wages isn’t a great look.

In recent weeks, Troy Deeney has slagged off Newcastle United and Newcastle Upon Tyne, claiming players wouldn’t choose to move there, this from somebody born and bred in Birmingham!!!

As for this Arsenal thing and Alexander Isak, it is pathetic. Nothing wrong with anybody in a random interview or comment piece, stating the obvious, that Arsenal (or indeed any other football club) would benefit from having Isak in their team. However, it is relentless from Troy Deeney, he pushes this Arsenal signing Alexander Isak thing time after time. Adding an extra edge to his comments often, such as Isak will go to a ‘bigger’ club such as the Gunners…

He talks as though the only thing that needs to happen is for Arsenal to put in a bid, as though it would automatically see Alexander Isak desperate to sign for Mikel Arteta and Newcastle willing sellers, even though Isak still has more than three and a half years left on his contract AND repeatedly says how happy he is at Newcastle United. Troy Deeney has also claimed Arsenal would be able to buy the best striker in the Premier League for £100m, even though average midfielders such as Rice, Caicedo and Fernandez have been signed for more than that. Also, Newcastle United bought Alexander Isak for £63m as a promising 22 year old and now he is this world class striker, any transfer fee would be way beyond what Arsenal could afford, even if United were willing to sell for some strange reason.

As for Eddie Howe ‘lost out on the England job’, yet again the facts don’t matter to Troy Deeney. You can’t lose out on a job that you were never interested in, Eddie Howe repeatedly said he was only focused on staying at Newcastle United AND he didn’t apply for the England job, plenty of others did and indeed ten were interviewed, BUT none of those who applied was Eddie Howe.

The standards at BBC Sport have dropped dramatically and Troy Deeney just one example. Even more embarrassing is BBC Sport shamelessly promoting transfer ‘stories’ from laughable sources, simply to get clicks/visits (they make money from people visiting their site from overseas, who are served with adverts).
