Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia made an impressive return to the Eredivisie today.
The former Feyenoord left back joined PSV Eindhoven on loan in the winter market and came right into the first eleven against Willem II.
The Dutch defender played 78 minutes of action before being taken off for Wessel Kuhn.
He impressed and was given a rating of 7.4 from Sofascore.
Malacia made one interception and two tackles in the match.
The 25 year old won four out of his six ground duels and one out of his four aerial battles.
His most impressive statistics arrived in an attacking sense however, as the home side dominated possession.
He had 59 touches of the ball and completed 41 out of his 44 passes for a massive completion rate of 93%.
Crucially he also produced three key passes and one of those balls opened up the Willem II defence and created a big chance for his new team to score.
The full back completed one of his two crosses and one of his three long ball attempts.
PSV took the lead in the 62nd minute through Noa Lang but dipped when Malacia was taken off as Mickaël Tirpan equalised for the visitors in the 83rd minute.
The performance will have been a massive confidence boost for the defender who spent the entirety of the 2023/2024 season out injured.
Whilst he appears unlikely to have much of a career at Old Trafford left, he will be hoping to get significant game time back in his native country and perhaps secure a permanent move in the summer.
He will be desperate to be involved in PSV’s next game on Tuesday night when they travel to Turin to take on Juventus in the Champions League.
