Paris Saint-Germain’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League final has sparked a wave of online criticism directed at Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe.

The Real Madrid forward found himself at the centre of a social media storm following his ex-team’s impressive European run without him.

The backlash came after Mbappe shared a paid post of himself enjoying some downtime, relaxing and listening to music. It did not take long for the comments section to explode with insults and mockery from PSG fans.

Many messages expressed joy over his exit, blaming him for past failures. Comments like “Thank you for leaving PSG, you were the problem”, and “PSG reached the final without you. It must hurt” were among the thousands directed at the French superstar.

PSG fans celebrate, Real Madrid fans defend

The harsh comments were not limited to PSG fans alone. Even some Real Madrid supporters jumped in with a different tone, sharing images of the club’s 15 Champions League trophies to remind critics of Mbappe’s new home.

One message read, “Honestly, PSG fans. What did Kylian ever do to you? He gave it his all.”

The most shared image in recent hours features the phrase “Ici c’est Paris” alongside fireworks over the Eiffel Tower.

Fans also posted pictures of Ousmane Dembele kissing the PSG badge and coach Luis Enrique celebrating passionately, symbolising a fresh chapter at the club.

Furthermore, a resurfaced quote from Luis Enrique’s documentary has also gained traction. In it, the Spanish manager hints at the tactical benefits of moving on from Mbappe.

“Next year, I’m going to control everything. All of it. No exceptions,” he says, referencing the improved balance in his squad now that Mbappe is gone.

As PSG prepare for the Champions League final, Mbappe is focused on a different battle—Sunday’s Clásico against Barcelona.

With LaLiga still up for grabs, the French forward has chosen to stay silent on social media, keeping his eyes on the prize with Real Madrid.
